History of TV Advertising

How many adverts is it estimated that the average american consumes everyday?
Up to 3000.

Where  do you see adverts?
Television, newspapers, telephone booths etc..

What is the second most uttered word in the world?
Coca-Cola

Sometimes advertisers use a character or a personality to help sell a product, why is this successful?
It is successful because people find a way to connect or relate to the product through this made up character and it makes the advert much more interesting and entertaining to watch than it normally would be.

Does advertising always work? give an example?
No, a good example would be the Ford car Edsel 1957, which cost them over $250,000,000 to manufacture it and $30,000,000 to advertise it. It didn't sell.

Why is research an important phase of making a TV advert?
It is important to do research before making the advert to know what the people want/need and what would attract them to the product.

What does research show are effective methods of advertising?
-Short big headlines
-Repetition
-Colour print ads

How do adverts stop us from turning over?

What is the future of advertising?
